The Liberalist, a pro-freedom media platform based in Nigeria, has launched the second issue of its magazine, The Liberalist Africa, at the 2026 Conference of Freedom Advocates(CFA) in Abuja on Saturday, 31st of October.
The magazine, titled ‘Regulate the Harm, Not the Fear,’ features insightful articles discussing the recurring challenges affecting Africa and its economy, as well as progress recorded by some countries in the continent.
This year’s CFA brought together more than 150 freedom advocates, journalists, students, researchers, civil society leaders, and policy experts under the theme ‘Advance.’
During the launch, Abdullah Tijani, the Managing Editor of The Liberalist, unveiled the new edition and highlighted the importance of freedom and better regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) in Africa.
“When leaders try to control everything, good intentions usually end up hurting the very people they were meant to help. This second issue of The Liberalist Africa features some of the best articles published by The Liberalist, exploring sound policies on technology, the economy, and modern e-visas,” he said.
In his editor’s note, Abdullah also criticised African governments for adopting foreign AI policies without adequately considering the continent’s technological realities. He warned that inappropriate regulations could stifle local businesses and hinder technological development across Africa.
Other articles in the magazine examine how free markets drive economic growth, the persistent barriers to press freedom, and government policies that restrict businesses.
